Last month at NAMM in Anaheim, California, Jeff Loomis talked to Metal Magnitude’s Chelsea about bringing back Nevermore.

“ Yeah, there’s some incredible stuff coming up,” the guitarist explained. “I’ve had a tremendous last 10 years with the band Arch Enemy. I’ve been a part of their band, and I left the band about a year ago because I wanted to kind of be behind the driver’s wheel of my own music again.”

Loomis added, “So I’m reforming my old band called Nevermore. And that was a very big part of my life for a long time. And as we all know, the [Nevermore] singer Warrel Dane passed away about five years ago. So we’re on the search right now for a new vocalist and bass player.”

“And we’re gonna come back, and we’re gonna revamp the band, and it’s gonna be bigger and better than it ever was. So that’s the plans for 2025,” the rocker revealed his plans.

Arch Enemy revealed in December 2023 that they had parted ways with Loomis. “It’s been a joy having Jeff play with Arch Enemy for close to a decade. We truly had a blast touring around the world together,” Arch Enemy guitarist and founder, Michael Amott, said in a social media post.

He continued, “We were friends long before we played music together and we remain even-closer-buddies, now, which feels great. We respect that he’s in a place and time in life where he needs to step out of Arch Enemy and we all wish him nothing but the best moving forward.”

Bassist Jim Sheppard is not part of the reunion. On December 27, 2024, a short video teased Nevermore’s return, showing band-related images and silhouettes of Loomis and drummer Van Williams. The video ended with the Nevermore logo, the words ‘A New Chapter Rises,’ and the year 2025.

Nevermore explained on Facebook why Sheppard isn’t part of the reunion. They haven’t spoken to him in years and felt it was best to move forward without him. They wished him well but said some issues were irreconcilable.
