Jay Jay French Responds To Speculations About Twisted Sister Reunion

The reunion of a beloved band can be a nostalgic journey, taking fans back in time to the memories and emotions they experienced through the power of music. However, not all musicians are fond of this idea. Take the members of Twisted Sister, for example. Despite the widespread excitement and anticipation surrounding the idea of a Twisted Sister reunion, they stick true to their decision not to make it happen. Jay Jay French’s recent words on Twitter put an end to speculations.

Speculation regarding the future performances by Twister Sister always follows our occasional appearances for benefits and award shows,” the guitarist wrote. “We had fun playing on Thursday, January 26, 2023, in L.A. and showing ‘How It’s Done!’ There are no other plans at this time.”

French is not alone in this decision, as the remaining band members have also agreed on it. Dee Snider, for example, recently argued that reunions were a financial encore, cheapening the band’s legacy and sullying the memory of their seminal works.

He believes musicians should be consistent with their decisions once they announce their retirement. Twisted Sister has refused to reunite, despite receiving lucrative offers, except for special performances like their appearance at the Heavy Metal Hall of Fame induction ceremony on January 26.

The band made a triumphant return to the stage, gracing the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, California, with their presence. The classic-era lineup, consisting of the legendary Dee Snider on vocals, Jay Jay French on guitar, and Mark Mendoza on bass, was joined by drummer Mike Portnoy, filling in for the late A.J. Pero.

Twisted Sister’s performance, a three-song set of ‘You Can’t Stop Rock ‘n’ Roll,’ ‘Under the Blade,’ and the anthemic ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It,’ was inducted by Portnoy and guitar virtuoso Steve Vai, making the night a nostalgic and electrifying symphony for all in attendance. So this determination of Twisted Sister doesn’t mean we can’t watch them again. We just have to wait for such special occasions.
