James Hetfield’s new hair style has drawn attention from fans. It appeared alongside Metallica’s announcement of a new blood donation experience on Instagram. The band said the experience is part of its Las Vegas residency. Hetfield’s new look includes a small black stripe that matches one worn by his fiancée, Adriana Gillett.
The band’s announcement invited Sphere ticketholders and fans in the Las Vegas area to take part in the blood drive. The band organized it with the American Red Cross and its All Within My Hands Foundation.

“Everyone who comes to donate at the Metallica x Red Cross Blood Donation Experience, sponsored by Delta Air Lines, will receive a limited-edition T-shirt designed by Tony Squindo, while supplies last, and will be automatically entered for a chance to win Lars’ Tama Drums kit, which you can check out on site!”
Fans quickly commented on Hetfield’s hair. One Metallica fan said, “James’ hair got… Blackened.” Another said, “This is apparently to match his ‘fiancé.'”
The blood donation experience is tied to Metallica’s “Life Burns Faster” residency at Las Vegas Sphere. The Red Cross says the experience will be open through March 19, 2027, giving fans an opportunity to donate during the residency. It is a pop-up donation center at Fashion Show Las Vegas on the Las Vegas Strip and is sponsored by Delta Air Lines.
The Las Vegas experience builds on Metallica and its All Within My Hands Foundation’s partnership with the American Red Cross, which began in April 2025. Hetfield’s hair change also follows a personal milestone: Metallica announced his engagement to Gillett on March 15, 2026.
