Jake E. Lee has confirmed that the individuals who shot him last year have been apprehended and are facing sentencing next month. He shared this update in a statement on Red Dragon Cartel’s Facebook page.
The guitarist’s announcement came while discussing his upcoming performance and providing an update on the criminal case. Lee revealed significant details about the arrests and the broader criminal investigation.
“Just confirming I’m playing in Birmingham on the 5th of July,” Lee said. “In fact I believe I’ll be first at bat, which means Coco has to be up at 7:00am to watch Pops! I’m thrilled to be sharing the stage with top tier musicians, I won’t name cause you never know until the curtain rises, but will confirm once we have our rehearsal next week.”
The musician then shifted to the more serious matter of his shooting case.
“Oh, btw, the two that shot me have been caught and face sentencing next month,” he continued. “The gun was tied to two previous murders so my case is almost an afterthought. They’re going bye bye for a long time. On that happy thought, see ya on TV!”
The October 2024 shooting incident left Lee with serious injuries that could have been far worse. Blabbermouth reported that Lee was struck three times during the attack while walking his dog near his Las Vegas home. The bullets hit his left forearm, back, and foot. The back wound broke a rib and damaged a lung.
Lee was fortunate that no vital organs were struck despite the severity of the attack. Metal Injection noted that police found 15 shell casings at the scene. This indicated the shooter had emptied an entire clip during the assault. The guitarist’s dog Coco, who was with him during the incident, remained unharmed throughout the terrifying ordeal.
The random nature of the attack initially puzzled investigators. The case took on greater significance when the weapon was linked to other serious crimes. Ultimate Classic Rock revealed that the same firearm used in Lee’s shooting was connected to two previous murders. This transformed what appeared to be an isolated incident into part of a broader criminal investigation.
Lee’s recovery has been remarkable considering the extent of his injuries. The damage to his fretting arm was minimal. This allowed him to continue his musical career and plan upcoming performances. The arrest and upcoming sentencing of the two suspects brings closure to a case that shocked the rock community and threatened the life of the former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist.
