Jacob Elordi Calls David Bowie’s ‘Ziggy Stardust’ Record ‘Overrated-Underrated’

Jacob Elordi is a fan of many things, such as animals, poetry, and Australia. One of these is a musician, and he is none other than David Bowie.

In an interview with GQ, Elordi listed his favorite musicians. Naming David Bowie, the ‘Euphoria’ actor reflected his thoughts on David Bowie’s fifth studio album, ‘The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars,’ saying it is an ‘overrated-underrated’ album:

“The ‘Ziggy Stardust’ album by David Bowie is overrated-underrated in my opinion. And just recently I’ve been listening to that album kind of in everything I do, particularly this song called ‘Five Years.’ I love the way it sounds and I love the way it feels.”

Why ‘Ziggy Stardust’ Is So Popular

It has been over 50 years since ‘Ziggy Stardust’ has been released, and the record delves into the nature of fame, the pitfalls of excess, and the quest for identity and purpose in a rapidly changing world. The album narrates the tale of a fictional rock star named Ziggy Stardust, serving as a conduit between Earth and the extraterrestrial Starman.

Bowie utilized Ziggy Stardust as a narrative device to explore these themes and offer commentary on the state of rock music and youth culture in the early 1970s.

Additionally, the album addresses alienation, gender and sexual identity, and the search for spiritual meaning.

The storyline revolves around Ziggy’s ascent to fame, his interactions with fans and the media, and his eventual downfall resulting from his excesses and the public’s rejection of his message. The concluding track, ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Suicide,’ portrays Ziggy recognizing the hollowness of his celebrity and reaching out for assistance before being consumed by his own creation.

With these themes, the record achieved ultimate success and it sold 7,500,000 copies worldwide.
