Ruth Clapton’s Instagram post read:
“A week ago I was watching Rudimental close Wilderness Festival, and their song ‘Not Giving In’ came on and I got so emotional, tears streaming down my face and I couldn’t understand why at first but then I stood there and let myself just feel it all, the weight of the last year and something struck a chord with me.
There has been love, heartbreak, massive life changes, self-development and growth, dating for the first time in 13 years, career change, the prospect of moving. It’s been a lot, a real lot and I’ve not given in. I’ve been so lucky to have an amazing support system around me that has meant I could get through it all and I cannot believe where I am in comparison to a year ago. I’m so much happier and even though I’ve got a long way to go and there’s a whole lot of uncertainty I’m not giving in, not ever. I’ve made mistakes but I’ve learned from them. I’ve invested my time and energy into the wrong projects and people but I know my worth now.
So here’s to being brave and not sleepwalking through your life, you just get to be here once so go chase those dreams, make a mess and clean it up, grow from it. Make mistakes along the way because it all just adds to the plot… who knows what plot twist the next year will bring!”
