‘It’s An Honor’: David Ellefson Replaces D.D. Verni In Overkill

David Ellefson is replacing D.D. Verni in Overkill.

Overkill has enlisted the former Megadeth bassist to take on the role of their original member for their ‘Scorching Latin America 2024’ tour.

The ‘Scorching Latin America 2024,’ consisting of 10 dates, is set to commence on April 11 in Guadalajara, Mexico. The tour will include stops in Costa Rica, Chile, and Peru before concluding on April 28 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Ellefson shared his appreciation for filling in for his friend:

“It’s an honor to fill in for my friend, the mighty DD Verni, as he takes time to heal up right now. Overkill always brings the fury and I’m looking forward to scorching Latin America with them!”

Why Verni Isn’t Playing In This Show

D.D. Verni, one of the co-founders of the band, had to quit the tour and will not be attending the performances as he is recovering from shoulder surgery.

Though the original bassist is upset that he won’t be playing, he is glad to have found Ellefson as a replacement for him. The bassist stated:

“Bummed to not be able to thrash it up with our Latin America fans, but gotta get this wing working!.. But who better than one of the great original thrash bass players, and old friend, David Ellefson to fill in.”
