Herman Li Signals Dragonforce’s Ending: ‘This Is Not Forever’

3 Min Read

In an interview with Loudersound, Herman Li made some statements that might somewhat disappoint fans of his band, Dragonforce. As you know, Dragonforce is a technical metal band that has garnered the appreciation of metal enthusiasts with its challenging songs to perform. Speaking about the difficulties of performing Dragonforce songs correctly with each passing day and age, Li sent the following message to the band’s fans:

“I’m being realistic. Playing a Dragonforce set is not easy, it asks a lot of you. It’s not like we can pace ourselves – you know, some bands can play forever, right? But if you want to see Dragonforce live, you better come now, I’m telling you. This is not forever.”

Personally, I don’t think these words indicate an imminent retirement or farewell tour. In my opinion, he wants to emphasize the technical difficulty of the band’s songs and tell fans not to miss the chance to see them perform well.

Herman also touched upon his status within the band:

“I don’t think I’m the smartest guy in the room. I’m definitely not the best guitar player – I’m not in the top thousand in this world. But I want to get better. That’s how the creativity came around, because the amount of knowledge in the guitar world is unlimited – so I’m always learning.”

The Accident On Stage

In the rest of the interview, Herman talked about some previously undiscussed topics, including an incident where he fell off the stage. He said:

“I really hurt my leg and my teeth. I’m having to go to physiotherapy for my left leg. I messed it up mid-tour, and kept doing the shows like nothing was happening because the show must go on. Now I’m doing therapy to get this leg ready for the next tour – it’s been going on for months. But that’s the danger of a Dragonforce show – we don’t do boring shows!”
