Hatebreed’s Wayne Lozinak has provided his first public update following his recent brain tumor diagnosis. He shared details about his condition and upcoming treatment in a post on Instagram.
The musician reassured fans about his current health status and outlined his treatment plan moving forward.
“Hello everyone. Just wanted to first say, I’m feeling fine, and I’ve been back in the U.S. since last week,” Lozinak said. “Basically just had more tests, and another MRI here, and the results are the same as they were in France. Can never be too sure I guess.”
He then provided specific details about his diagnosis and upcoming medical procedures.
“In case you missed it, I have a benign meningioma in my head that needs to be removed!” he continued. “I have an appointment with a neurosurgeon this upcoming week, and hopefully we can get the surgery scheduled soon! I don’t have all the details yet on what that entails, but I will be looking forward to getting back on the road and seeing you all, once everything is done and is safe to do so!”
Lozinak also expressed gratitude for the support he has received from fans and the music community.
“Second, I really want to thank everyone who has reached out to me, since we posted about it,” he said. “It was overwhelming, the amount of people sending me well wishes, positivity and just the fact of being in your thoughts, was so appreciated! Thank you!”
The musician concluded his message with advice for others about monitoring their health.
“…..and if you feel like something may be off with your health, and you don’t feel like your ‘normal self,’ it’s a good idea to get checked out!” he added. “Might be nothing, but you never know!”
The diagnosis came after a concerning incident during the band’s recent European tour. This led to immediate medical attention and significant changes to their touring schedule.
Consequence reported that Lozinak was diagnosed with the benign meningioma after experiencing mild symptoms during the Download Festival in the UK. These initial symptoms raised concerns for a possible stroke. This prompted him to seek immediate medical attention in Lille, France.
The health scare forced significant changes to Hatebreed’s touring plans. Loudwire confirmed that Lozinak had to leave the band’s European tour due to the diagnosis. He returned to the United States to prepare for surgery and focus on his recovery. The band has expressed relief that the tumor is noncancerous and has been supporting Lozinak throughout this challenging time.
Despite the serious nature of his condition, Lozinak’s determination remains strong. MetalSucks noted that the guitarist is determined to return to Hatebreed as soon as possible. His strength and resilience remain unwavering throughout the ordeal.
The outpouring of support from the metal community has been significant. Fans and fellow musicians have rallied around Lozinak during his recovery. His positive attitude and transparency about the medical process have been praised by supporters who continue to send well wishes as he prepares for the upcoming surgical procedure.
Further updates on Lozinak’s surgery and recovery are expected to follow.
