How does one pick only a single song from the long list of memorable tracks created by Pantera? It’s a tricky question to answer, especially after the recent announcement of their reunion, which has brought to the surface timeless classics. Revolver asked some of the industry’s biggest names, including Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale, to share their pick for the greatest Pantera track of all time. Hale’s pick was none other than a cult classic.

“My favorite Pantera song, and I’m sure the die-hard fans are going to hate me for this, but I love ‘Cemetery Gates,’” revealed Hale as her pick from Pantera’s discography. “Personally, you can’t go wrong with it.”

Hale continued, “I feel like even if people don’t really know who Pantera was, they have definitely heard that song, so it’s a nice way to introduce it back into this generation.” Even if the die-hard fans would go with a track that might not have received the commercial success ‘Cemetery Gates’ did, there’s no denying the song’s impact on the genre.

The track was the second single from Pantera’s ‘Cowboys from Hell’ album. The song was played by rock stations more than their other tracks and became one of the band’s most popular tracks, and for a good reason, it became one of the most epic ballads in the history of the genre.

The song even received a Grammy for Pantera’s live performance of the track. So it’s not so surprising that Hale chose ‘Cemetery Gates’ as Pantera’s best track to date. For anyone who might have skipped the song as an option for their pick, maybe they should reconsider.
