Lzzy Hale is a Björk fan! In a recent interview with Metal Hammer, Lzzy shared the records that changed her life. Perhaps not everyone would have expected her to include Björk on her list. She even described Björk’s ‘Pagan Poetry’ on 2001 album ‘Vespertine’ as ‘brutal lyrically.’ About ‘Vespertine,’ she said:
“Bjork’s Pagan Poetry blew my mind. It’s brutal lyrically, but then also through the arrangement and how she’s using her own voice as the instrumentation in the background, building it into the track in this storm of different melodies and intros/outros. She truly breaks the rules.”
The only artist on Lzzy Hale’s list who was not from a rock background was Björk.
Lzzy Revealed Her Dream First Dance Song For Her Wedding
It’s none other than a Björk song! Lzzy often talks about Björk’s impact on her musical journey. In a 2019 interview with Kerrang!, she chose Björk’s ‘All Is Full Of Love’ as the song she wanted to play at the first dance of her wedding. She reflected on her own views about marriage as well and described the song as ‘a realistic outlook on love.’ She stated:
“If I ever do get married this would be the ideal song for the first dance. It’s this weird ethereal thing where she’s talking about love in a realistic way. I never had that thing growing up where I knew exactly what kind of dress I would like to wear, or whether I even wanted to get married, so now at this stage of my life, in my early 30s, I’m thinking if I do get married it’s not going to be for the sake of it, or some fairytale scenario. This song has a poignant, realistic outlook on love.”
