The band had shared a post saying “Thanks for the wild ride” on social media, which led some listeners to worry that Greta Van Fleet was breaking up. Kiszka was asked whether there was genuine cause for concern about what the band was doing while out of the spotlight.

Question: “There was some concern from fans, even before the ‘Thanks for the wild ride’ post, about what was going on while Greta was out of sight. Was there cause for that?”

“It was a bridge between comic relief and an accidental flub,” Kiszka said. “We thought it was really appropriate. Obviously it stirred the pot and garnered some attention. We’re full of surprises, y’know?”

“It was really interesting, because we were considering the lives we’d lived, what we’d done and gone through, and the world that we traveled.”

After returning home from tour, the band quickly reconnected. “I think we’d gotten home from tour, and it wasn’t two months before we all called each other,” Kiszka explained. “It was kind of like we were trained to do that in so many ways. That was the beginning of the conversation; we were calling each other, and it was only natural — ‘Let’s get together. Maybe we should do a record or something…’ I think the concept of the record came together rather immediately.”

The album title came from an experience in London. “The record title came to the fore before we recorded everything,” Kiszka said. “It was born from playing an iconic London venue, the Alexandra Palace, located upon this beautiful little hill. The locals somewhat affectionately nicknamed it ‘the palace of the people.’ Josh caught on to that quite quickly, realizing we were playing a piece of history.”

“A lot of artists went through those halls before us — the White Stripes and all that — before moving on. It was a transition moment for us, too, in that the next time we’d be playing in London, we’d be playing the O2 Arena.”

The album reflects the band’s journey and growth. “So we had that in mind when we started thinking about our next album,” Kiszka continued. “We knew that philosophically it was going to reflect the people, places, cultures, philosophies and ideas we’d encountered, along with the experiences we’d gathered over the last decade. It was that philosophy through which to create the music: How can we bottle that and express it with care? From the outset, we knew it was going to be ambitious.”

Kiszka discussed the band’s creative direction and goals for their upcoming album during the interview. The new record marks an important moment in Greta Van Fleet’s career.

The cryptic May post came as the band prepared to emerge from a two-year break. In May 2026, they released the single “Play Your Games” and performed a surprise show at New York City’s Bowery Ballroom, marking their first public appearance in two years. The single “Saw You Stand” followed later that month.

Palace for the People was released on October 9, 2026, as the band’s fourth studio album. Greta Van Fleet worked with producer Mike Elizondo, known for his work with Turnstile, twenty one pilots, and Jon Batiste, to develop their sound. The album debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200 and topped both the Top Hard Rock Albums and Top Rock Albums charts.

Alexandra Palace holds deep meaning for the band’s history. In 2022, the band headlined the London venue during their world tour before going on to sell out Wembley Arena. The venue’s original name, “The Palace Of The People,” reflected its creation as a public gathering place for everyone, not just the wealthy or royalty, which inspired the album’s title.

Greta Van Fleet announced a headline tour to support the new album. The Into The Beginning Tour will run across 59 cities, kicking off February 3 in Savannah, Georgia, and visiting cities including Chicago, Brooklyn, Detroit, Dallas-Fort Worth, Berlin, Milan, Amsterdam, Paris, London, and Toronto before concluding on July 31 in Michigan.
