Billie Joe Armstrong shared his favorite rappers and revealed the one rapper he would love to work with.
The concept of hating rap music in the rock industry is widely known. But it seems that this has never been the case for the Green Day singer. Appearing in a new interview with Much, the band talked about their upcoming album, hobbies, and rappers. Armstrong revealed the band’s favorite rappers:
“Some of our favorite rappers that we listen to… I just think about back when we were touring in the van and we were listening to either N.W.A. or ICE-T, Too Short, and the Beastie Boys.”
Who Armstrong Chose As the Rapper He’d Work With

Although Armstrong picked many rappers as his favorites, he had to choose one. Continuing with his favorite rapper from the Bay Area, he chose one from the ones he previously named and revealed:
“So, I’d have to go Bay Area. I have to say Too Short.”
Armstrong Worked with Rappers Before

This is not the only time Armstrong’s been involved with rap. Armstrong allowed Tyla Yaweh and Wiz Khalifa to use a sample of ‘Boulevard Of Broken Dreams’ for the remix of Yaweh’s ‘High Right Now.’
While Yaweh was recording the remix, he was concerned that the two wouldn’t be able to sample the Green Day track’s rhythm. Yaweh and Khalifa then got lucky when they saw Armstrong in Post Malone’s backstage. The two rappers eventually got permission, and Armstrong even appeared in the music video.
