Glenn Tipton made a surprise return to the stage with Judas Priest during the band’s London concert. This marked a rare appearance since stepping back from touring in 2018 due to Parkinson’s disease. The moment was captured in a fan’s video of the Judas Priest show.

The legendary guitarist had been absent from the band’s touring lineup for several years. He joined his bandmates specifically to perform “Living After Midnight” during the London show.

Tipton’s appearance represents a significant moment for both the musician and fans. He had previously reduced his touring commitments due to his ongoing battle with Parkinson’s disease. The performance demonstrates his continued connection to the band despite the health challenges that led to his touring hiatus.

This special one-song performance offered fans a chance to see the iconic guitarist back in action, even if briefly, with the heavy metal legends.

Tipton’s journey with Parkinson’s disease has been a gradual process that significantly impacted his ability to maintain the demanding schedule of a touring musician.

Metal Wani reported that Tipton was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2008. He had been experiencing symptoms for many years prior to the official diagnosis. The progressive nature of the condition eventually made it increasingly difficult for him to sustain the physical demands of performing nightly during extensive touring cycles.

Tipton has stepped back from regular touring duties. Chaoszine noted that he occasionally appears onstage for one or two songs during encores when his health permits. This approach allows him to maintain his connection with both the band and their devoted fanbase while managing his condition responsibly.

The band’s current approach to including Tipton reflects their understanding of his fluctuating health status. Metal Wani revealed that bassist Ian Hill has explained that Tipton experiences both good days and bad days with his condition.

“When he’s well enough he will come out and he’ll do one or two songs in the encores,” Hill noted. He acknowledged that while it’s heartbreaking that Tipton can’t perform full sets anymore, the band treasures these special moments when he can participate.

Chaoszine also mentioned that guitarist Richie Faulkner, who took over Tipton’s touring duties, has praised his predecessor’s resilience. Faulkner described him as “a warrior” who continues doing what he can to keep going despite the challenges posed by Parkinson’s disease.
