Glenn Danzig discussed his future release plans in a recent interview with Abe Kanan on YouTube.

“No. Look, people now just wanna download your stuff for free, and they don’t understand that it costs money to go in a studio and record a record,” Danzig said. “So it’s not really a great business model to go and record a record and then not be able to recoup your money that you spent making the record.”

“So, with Danzig, it might be like the Misfits — maybe I’ll record a song or two and just release it, and it won’t cost that much,” he continued.

Modern music industry challenges have shaped this new direction in his career.

Metal Injection reports that Danzig’s most recent studio album, ‘Black Laden Crown,’ came out in 2017. This marks his longest gap between full-length releases.

The Mosh highlights how escalating touring expenses have created obstacles for artists promoting new music. These financial challenges directly impact release strategies.

MetalSucks notes that this pivot to singles reflects modern music consumption patterns. The strategy allows artists to maintain visibility while reducing financial risks.

This new approach signals a strategic shift in Danzig’s career. He now focuses on selective releases instead of traditional album cycles, adapting to the digital music landscape’s demands.
