George Lynch recently commented on Lynch Mob’s surprising reunion. He addressed the band’s disbanding announcement and subsequent return in a statement shared on Guitar World.
When asked why the band changed their mind after announcing they were disbanding, Lynch revealed the strategic nature of the decision.
He said, “I announced we were disbanding, and we called the tour The Final Ride, said our goodbyes, and shed a few tears. Then, like three weeks later, we got back together and did an album. The whole thing was to get free publicity!”
Lynch also addressed the longstanding issue with the band’s name, which carries troubling historical connotations. “Lynch mob is a touchy subject; the optics are terrible,” he said. He attempted to change the name a couple of times, but it didn’t stick. “I love the band, the music, and playing with my friends. However, the connotations of the name are too dark and heavy. I made a critical mistake 35 years ago and I try to walk away from it – but I end up coming back. I’m a bad businessman!”
Financial incentives played a significant role in motivating the band to record a new album. “When people offered me more money to play more shows, it worked out as a negotiating point,” Lynch revealed. “Saying I’m done was like a game of chicken, you know? What does it take to get you back?” He continued, “But seriously – just because you hit a certain number of years doesn’t mean you’re gonna feel like you want to be semi-retired. I absolutely don’t feel that way. So there was really no reason not to do a record.”
The reunion has resulted in a new album titled Dancing With The Devil. This marks a significant moment in Lynch Mob’s career. According to Eddie Trunk, the album is set for release on November 28, 2025—just four days from today. The band prepares to close a chapter on their storied legacy in American hard rock.
The recording lineup reunites the same members who worked on the 2023 album Babylon. George Lynch plays guitar, Gabriel Colón provides vocals, Jaron Gulino handles bass, and Jimmy D’Anda plays drums. Blabbermouth reported that the album is being released through Frontiers Music Srl. It is positioned as Lynch Mob’s ninth and final full-length studio album.
George Lynch has described Dancing With The Devil as his “magnum opus and swan song” for Lynch Mob. However, he has also hinted at the possibility of future projects, joking about the nature of “final” albums. My Global Mind noted that Lynch stated: “I think we’ll do another Lynch Mob album right away.” This suggests that previous “final” albums were only final “for that week.”
The album features tracks such as “Dancing With The Devil,” “Pictures Of The Dead,” “Saints And Sinners,” and a bonus track “Somewhere.” With the release just days away, Lynch Mob’s farewell album promises to be a bold and uncompromising conclusion to the band’s legacy. Even so, Lynch’s comments suggest that the door may not be entirely closed on future endeavors.
