In a recent episode of The Rock N Roll & Coffee Show, Geoff Tate shared his thoughts on the current state of touring, highlighting the evolution of life on the road for musicians.
When asked whether he finds that touring is easier or harder nowadays, the singer replied:
“It’s way easier, yeah.”
He then elaborated on the variety of transportation methods his team employs while on tour, saying:
“We do buses. We do airplanes. We do trains. We do vans, just depending on where we’re at and what we’re doing.”
Tate’s Travel Preferences

Later, the host wanted to learn if there is a preferred way of travel he likes for shows. To which Tate replied:
“Well, I really like my buses. I have two tour buses, and one of them is older. I’ve customized it quite a bit, and it’s really comfortable to tour in. I also like trains when I’m in Europe. It’s really nice to take the train, sleep in a hotel, get up in the morning, walk over to the train station, hop a train, be at the next venue in a couple hours. It’s a very nice way to travel.”
Anticipation For New Music

Despite the ease of touring, Geoff touched upon the challenge of creating new music. He mentioned in the same chat that it had been a while since his last full-length album, ‘The New Reality,’ released in 2017. Tate spoke about the effort required to produce a new album, noting:
“I haven’t made one since… The last real album that I did was, I think, 2017, ‘The New Reality.’ And that was the last full-length album I did. And yeah, I haven’t made an album in a while. I’m kind of feeling the need to make one, but then again, it’s so much work — so much work.”
Still, he revealed that he has over 40 new songs. His home studio, alongside a portable setup for use on the road, keeps him engaged in music production even during downtime. In addition to considering a new solo album, Tate is actively working on a new album for his Sweet Oblivion project, with hopes to finish it by year’s end.
