After KISS’ last concert at Madison Square Garden on December 2, 2023, Gene Simmons’ wife Shannon Tweed-Simmons recently shared her feelings about the band’s retirement on her Instagram account. Shannon shared a photo of the Simmons family and wrote that Gene would not stop working, which left the fans wondering. She stated:
“I’m so proud of my husband for his eagerness to learn, work ethic, love for his family loyalty, and his respect for his band. I know he won’t stop working, he’s not that kind of guy. But whatever he does, he does with all his heart. And I wish all the guys good luck for the future and enjoy some deserved time off.!”
Simmons Once Said He Would Never Stop Hunting Money

We all know how long it took KISS to end their career. KISS did their first ‘farewell tour’ in 2000, and until recently they were still touring. Frontman Gene Simmons actually somewhat likened the band’s approach to his own in a way. In 2015, Simmons spoke to the BBC about his hunger. Saying he will never stop making more money, the rock star added that he treats everything as business. He stated:
“Life is business, and I approach life the way a shark approaches life—they must keep moving or else they will drown. I’ll never stop hunting money. I’ll never have enough. … People who say that money is the root of all evil are morons. A lack of money is the root of all evil.”
“I’m like (billionaire investor) Warren Buffett – he gets up every day and goes to work even though he doesn’t need the money.”
He described his family as ‘dirt poor’ and said the first lesson he learned was the importance of working hard and earning money.
Simmons Never Consumed Alcohol or Drugs Despite His Great Wealth

Despite living a pretty wealthy life for many years, Simmons says he never smokes, does drugs or even drinks alcohol. The rock star did not hold back from criticizing people who use substances such as alcohol or drugs, stating that he upholds people being ‘losers’ who use such substances. The rock star did not hold back from criticizing people who use substances such as alcohol or drugs. However, he ironically stated that he upholds the ‘loser’ lives of people who use such substances. He said:
“As a young man at parties, I’d look around and see all the other men completely drunk, behaving like idiots, and unable to talk to the beautiful girls. What a complete waste of humanity… Booze or drugs have never done anything for me, but I fully uphold people’s right to have a completely loser life.”
KISS has now ended their touring career, as it looks. We will see if Simmons will continue to work, as his wife says.
