Gene Simmons Says He’s The Least Qualified Person

KISS frontman Gene Simmons joined an interview with People in which he confessed that he believes he is the least qualified person one would ever meet.

Gene Simmons co-founded the legendary rock band KISS along with Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss back in 1973. Since KISS’ formation, he makes musical efforts as the bassist and co-lead singer on the band. Although he experienced unfortunate events during his childhood, Simmons achieved great success in KISS and became a world-renowned musician.

Apart from his musical career, Simmons is also enthusiastic about art and painting. He started painting and drawing at a very young age and has created hundreds of artwork during that period. Although Simmons later focused on his career with KISS, he had a chance to go back to his old hobbies during the lockdown. Now, he compiled all of his previous artwork and the ones he created during the pandemic to reveal them in an exhibition.

Simmons’ artwork publicly debuted in the Animazing Gallery in The Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian and The Palazzo under the name ‘Gene Simmons Artworks.’ The exhibition started on October 22 and 23, with a private event for artists and celebrities on October 21. Moreover, Simmons himself also made an appearance in the gallery.

According to the interview by People, Gene Simmons is rather unsure about his talents. Although he is the frontman of a successful rock band and has the talent to create beautiful artwork, he seems doubtful about his qualifications. Speaking to People about his artwork, Simmons said that he never considered himself a painter, and he didn’t even know he needs to name his artwork. The musician then went on to claim that he is the least qualified person one would ever meet.

Following that, Simmons talked about the effects of the pandemic on his paintings. He stated that his motive was staying sane and keeping his mind busy. The musician then added he didn’t know he needs to have a style, and his art mainly resulted from the stream of consciousness.

Gene Simmons told People that:

“I didn’t even know you’re supposed to name the paintings. I never considered myself a painter. I never considered myself much of anything. You’re talking to the least qualified person you’d ever meet… I can tell you that I have a sense of wonder.”

He then revealed his real motive while creating artwork during the pandemic:

I just wanted to stay sane. I didn’t know you were supposed to have a style, and I didn’t do anything except try to keep my mind busy. So the art is more stream of consciousness.”

Although Simmons reveals that he thinks otherwise, he is indeed a prolific musician who is also talented in painting. Looking through all of his achievements throughout the years, it is clear that Simmons deserves all the respect because of his remarkable career.
