KISS bassist and vocalist Gene Simmons recently defended his comments on Dancing With The Stars, where he appeared as a guest judge on October 8.
The rocker made some comments that made people say he was being ‘creepy.’ However, Simmons doesn’t find his comments creepy and stands behind them.
“All media is clickbait. I stand by every word I said,” the rocker explained to Daily Mail. “I had a great time. The contestants were great. The show was great. Watch the show. It was a lot of fun. But media? Everybody’s got something to say. Watch the show. It was a lot of fun. Everybody had a great time.”
The rocker appeared as a guest judge on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ during the ‘Hair Metal Night’ episode. While judging, Gene commented on the contestants’ physical appearances instead of focusing entirely on the dances.
At one point, he commented: “This is a brand-new experience for me and it’s difficult to look at you and to figure out which one is more hot, hot, hot.” He also called professional dancer Witney Carson ‘one of the more beautiful women on the planet’ and complimented actor and singer Chandler Kinney, saying, “You’ve fogged up my glasses. I don’t know what to tell you. You move me, not just with your gyrations and so on, but your beautiful face and how you were into the emotion of it.”
Simmons gave Phaedra Parks a score of five, while the other judges gave her sevens, which made the crowd boo. Parks and her dance partner Val Chmerkovskiy looked confused since Simmons didn’t say anything bad about their performance. He even said he liked their ‘bad-boy-and-the-bad-girl’ style.
Some people called him ‘creepy’ because he talked more about how the contestants looked than how they danced. Some even blamed the program for inviting the KISS rocker as a guest in the first place.
