Gavin Rossdale Discusses The Impact Of Gwen Stefani And His ‘Opposing Views’

Gavin Rossdale recently chatted with Adrianna Costa on her ‘Not So Hollywood’ podcast, sharing why he and ex-partner Gwen Stefani couldn’t ‘co-parent.’

The former couple shares three sons together, but it seems that when it comes to ‘parenting,’ Rossdale and Stefani are ‘different people‘ as the Bush frontman explained why they didn’t prefer teamwork, stating:

“I think you can go one of two ways — you can either do everything together and really co-parent and see how that goes, or you can just parent. And I think we just parent.”

However, Gavin seemed not bothered by that, as he continued by discussing how different parenting methods granted their children ‘freedom:’

“We’re really different people… I don’t think there’s much similarity in the way we bring them up, but I think that gives them an incredible perspective to then choose which pieces of those two lives they’d like to inherit and move on with and which part of themselves come out of the whole process.”

The singer also thought having ‘particularly opposing views’ with his ex-wife was ‘helpful’ for their boys to ‘make their own minds’:

“What’s important is to give them a wide view of things, and we definitely have some particularly opposing views, so I think it’d be really helpful for them to make their own minds as individuals.”

Rossdale and Stefani were married for 13 years before the couple called things off, filed for divorce, and went their separate ways in 2016. So, although having ‘particularly opposing views’ didn’t work out for their marriage, Gavin seemed to believe that those ‘differences’ were important while parenting.
