Gary Holt recently commented on Exodus’ upcoming album in an interview with Robbs MetalWorks. He shared his enthusiasm for the band’s follow-up to 2021’s ‘Persona Non Grata’.

Holt expressed his confidence in the newly completed record. It is set to release in March 2026.

“It’s f*cking awesome. It’ll be out next March, I think — March 20 — and it’s f*cking awesome. I mean, it’s so awesome. We’re so proud of this record,” Holt said.

The guitarist also highlighted the impact of Rob Dukes’ return to the band. Dukes replaced longtime vocalist Steve “Zetro” Souza. Holt emphasized that Dukes’ performance on the new material is particularly noteworthy.

“It’s f*cking been amazing. When you hear [Rob’s] vocals on this new record, you’re gonna shit your pants,” Holt continued.

The creation of this album represents a significant milestone for Exodus. It marks the first full-length release since Rob Dukes’ return to the band. The recording process itself was notably intensive and productive, setting the stage for what Holt describes as a transformative project for the thrash metal legends.

The band spent approximately two months in the studio recording the new material, according to Brave Words. Holt calls their approach the “heavy metal summer camp,” where band members live together during sessions. This collaborative environment proved especially productive. The band recorded enough material for nearly two albums.

The sonic direction of the upcoming release reflects a deliberate artistic choice. Per Sonic Perspectives, Holt described the upcoming album as “the most organic and massive-sounding thing ever.” He highlighted the prominent bass and giant low-end production. He explained: “Sounds like five dudes going for it. Bass is PROMINENT. Low end is giant. It’s killer as fuck.”

The band emphasized taking their time with the recording to avoid repeating mistakes, as reported by Blabbermouth. They were especially satisfied with their 2021 album Persona Non Grata, which benefited from extended studio time during the pandemic. The mixing process proved challenging due to the organic nature of the recordings. The band ultimately achieved a sound they’re proud of.

With Rob Dukes’ return to the fold and this new sonic direction, Exodus is positioning itself for a defining modern-era release. The album is expected to arrive in March 2026 via Napalm Records.
