Hatebreed’s bassist Chris Beattie quit, but not by choice.
“I just want to take the time to let everyone know that I am doing just fine and I sincerely appreciate everyone who has reached out,” the musician said in an Instagram post. “I was under the impression a joint announcement would be agreed upon in advance, but since that was not the case I wanted to address your concerns in my own post.”
He detailed his departure, writing, “At this time I am unable to discuss the specifics surrounding my departure from Hatebreed on November 13, 2024. However, I want to clarify that the decision to leave the band was not mine and that my departure was uncalled for and based on misleading and wrongful statements that will be subject to future actions.”
Hatebreed recently announced that Shadows Fall guitarist Matt Bachand will replace Beattie for now. “For the foreseeable future, bass duties will be handled live by Matt Bachand from Shadows Fall,” the band wrote on Instagram.
So, there seems to be an issue between him and the band, but the details aren’t clear. Hatebreed hasn’t commented on the situation yet.
The news comes just days before Hatebreed is set to perform at Knotfest Australia, where Slipknot will headline in three cities. They will play shows in Melbourne on Friday, Brisbane on Sunday, March 2, and Sydney on March 8. Other bands on the lineup include A Day to Remember, Babymetal, Slaughter to Prevail, and Polaris.
Hatebreed celebrated its 30th anniversary with a North American tour last fall. The tour started on September 26, 2024, in Portland, Maine, and ended on October 27, 2024, in Norfolk, Virginia. Carcass, Harms Way, and Crypta supported the tour.
