Alex Bent, the former drummer of Trivium, recently addressed the circumstances surrounding his departure from the band in a statement shared on Drummer’s Review.

When asked whether the split with Trivium was amicable, Bent emphasized the positive nature of the separation and his respect for the band’s future direction.

“You know what?! It’s one of those things where it’s, like, ‘You guys are gonna go your way. I’m gonna go my way.’ And we’re just keeping it all positive, man,” Bent said.

He further expressed his well-wishes for both parties moving forward. Life naturally leads people in different directions.

“I wish them the best, and it seems like they wish me the best. And you move on to different chapters in life, and that’s really it,” he continued.

Bent’s measured response reflects the broader sentiment surrounding his nine-year tenure with the metal band. His time with Trivium concluded unexpectedly earlier this year. Despite the abrupt nature of the announcement, all parties involved have maintained a respectful and professional tone throughout the transition.

Consequence reported that Bent expressed gratitude for his nine years with Trivium. He highlighted the positive experiences, friendships, and music created during his time with the band. His departure statement emphasized the personal growth and artistic fulfillment he gained from his tenure rather than focusing on any negative circumstances.

Trivium’s official response mirrored Bent’s sentiments. Loudwire noted that the band wished Bent success in his future endeavors and stated there are no hard feelings between the parties. The band described the split as unexpected but ultimately positive, demonstrating their commitment to maintaining a professional relationship with their former drummer.

Corey Beaulieu, Trivium’s guitarist, provided additional context in subsequent interviews. Blabbermouth documented that Beaulieu described the departure as a case of “life changes paths.” He emphasized there were no hard feelings and praised Bent’s contributions to the band’s legacy. This perspective underscores that the separation was driven by personal circumstances rather than conflict or controversy.

Bent’s comments suggest a professional and amicable conclusion to his time with the metal band. Both sides have maintained positive relations as they pursue separate paths. The drummer has since moved forward with new musical endeavors, while Trivium announced a replacement and continues their touring schedule.
