Faith No More’s Mike Patton Recalls Peeing On Guns N’ Roses Icon Axl Rose’s Teleprompter

During a zoom conversation with Anthrax’s Scott Ian, Faith No More lead vocalist, Mike Patton recalled the time when he was on the tour with Guns N’ Roses and Metallica and explained why he pissed on Axl Rose’s teleprompter that time.

In 1992, Metallica drummer, Lars Ulrich, and Guns N’ Roses lead guitarist, Slash announced that they would start touring together. The iconic tour of Guns N’ Roses and Metallica was known as The Guns N’ Roses/Metallica Stadium Tour, in which the legendary bands were co-headliners. The concerts started at Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium, on July 17, 1992.

Even though Guns N’ Roses frontman, Axl Rose asked Nirvana to play in the opening act, Kurt Cobain rejected his offer. Therefore, Faith No More took place in the opening act of the iconic tour concerts. The band’s lead vocalist, Mike Patton revealed that no one showed them respect, and this disrespectful behavior reminded him of their touring time with Mötley Crüe.

During the conversation, Mike Patton stated that they weren’t taken seriously and were treated terribly especially by Axl Rose during the concerts of Metallica and Guns N’ Roses. Although he added that they were really paid very well, he was so bored and done with these unfair behaviors toward him and his other bandmates. Therefore, he wanted to take revenge on Axl Rose. His revenge plan consisted of pissing on Axl’s teleprompter.

Here’s what Mike Patton told:

“One day I was like, so bored. It was just such a drag touring with those guys — I hate to say it. They treated us like sh*t. They paid us really well, but we were like really, just every day, looking for something f*cked up to do. So one day, I just like, took it out, and I pissed all over his teleprompter.
