Faith No More bassist Bill Gould has broken his silence on the band’s potential comeback. He addressed the reunion speculation in a recent statement.
The comments came after Faith No More shared an image on social media featuring the band’s iconic eight-pointed star logo alongside the year “2027.” The post sparked widespread reunion rumors. Gould spoke directly about the band’s plans and the physical demands of returning to the stage.
“Yeah, we’re gonna do it. We’re gonna play. Yeah, we’re gonna do it,” Gould said.
He went on to acknowledge the challenges the band faces given the physically demanding nature of their music. The material was originally written when the members were in their twenties.
“Our music is very physical, and a big concern is, like, pretty soon we’re not gonna be able to do this the way we wrote it,” he continued. “We wrote it as 20-year-olds and it, it’s always been very physical. It has to be that way. I can’t play the song if I’m not like that, honestly. With my bass parts, I just can’t do it.”
Despite those concerns, Gould confirmed that the band collectively decided to move forward while they still can.
“But we all kind of decided, like, we think we can do it,” he said. “I think that we can do it for a few more years, and we can do it the right way, so we’re gonna give it a go.”
The statement marks the first direct confirmation from a band member that reunion plans are in the works. The year 2027 appears to be the target timeframe.
Gould’s confirmation adds weight to a series of signals that have been building for weeks. The reunion appears to be more than just social media noise.
The band’s most recent live performance took place in 2016 at the Troubadour in Los Angeles. That appearance was part of a brief reunion run with former frontman Chuck Mosley. It also marked the last time Faith No More took the stage, making the upcoming return a nearly decade-long gap between live performances.
Behind-the-scenes activity has also been quietly mounting. Earlier this year, vocalist Mike Patton and drummer Mike “Puffy” Bordin were spotted together backstage in San Francisco at a live performance. The sighting fueled early speculation about the band’s future plans.
Faith No More has also signed a future-tours deal with Brazilian entertainment company 30e. The move signals that the band is actively preparing for a return to touring rather than simply teasing fans.
Keyboardist Roddy Bottum’s involvement also raised eyebrows. Bottum shared the same “2027” graphic on his own social media. The move was notable given that he had previously stated he did not expect to play with the band again. His participation in the announcement suggests the reunion has the full backing of the lineup.
With a signed touring deal, key members publicly aligned, and Gould now speaking openly about the plans, Faith No More’s 2027 comeback appears to be firmly on track.
