Jeffrey Hatrix, the former singer of Mushroomhead, recently shared an update on his health status. He addressed misconceptions about his cancer battle in a statement posted on Facebook.

Hatrix clarified that he is no longer battling cancer after receiving a PET scan in July that confirmed remission. His condition has significantly improved, and he is now healthy enough to return to performing, contrary to recent reports.

“For starters, I am not currently still battling cancer. I got a pet scan last July and they confirmed that the cancer is no longer there and that I’m in remission,” Hatrix said. “I repeat: The cancer is gone. I do not still have cancer. The treatment worked.”

The singer attributed his recovery to alternative treatments rather than chemotherapy, which doctors had initially recommended. He explained his reasoning for rejecting conventional medical advice and encouraged others to explore other options.

“The doctors told me that if I didn’t start chemo I’d be dead in a year. That year has passed. I strongly believe that if I had listened to that, I’d be in the same place as my wife right now,” Hatrix stated. “Not healthy, hiking everyday, and returning to the stage next year. The track record for chemotherapy is not good. It’s not the only option.”

Hatrix also suggested financial incentives may influence medical recommendations. He stated that doctors receive “huge financial kickbacks for chemo” and use fear tactics to encourage patients toward that treatment path. He concluded by reaffirming his position and addressing skeptics online.

“I only want people to understand that there are options and those options do work for people every day,” he said. “So to the people in the comments saying GET IN THE COFFIN and RIP: Sorry to disappoint. Not really.”

Hatrix’s decision to pursue alternative medicine comes within a deeply personal context. Consequence reported that the former Mushroomhead vocalist was diagnosed with cancer in late 2024. This diagnosis came shortly after losing his wife Stacy to cancer in April 2024. This tragic loss appears to have significantly influenced his approach to his own diagnosis and treatment decisions.

When Hatrix publicly revealed his cancer diagnosis in January 2025, he made clear his commitment to a different path than conventional medicine. Blabbermouth documented Hatrix stating: “I don’t believe in the big medicine way of treatment.” He emphasized his conviction that alternative approaches could provide better outcomes while maintaining his quality of life.

His alternative treatment protocol has been comprehensive and disciplined. The PRP detailed Hatrix’s regimen, which includes a protocol provided by Morse Healthcare in Florida. The protocol consists of nine tinctures and two capsules taken three times daily for eight weeks. This is combined with a diet rich in fruits and vegetables and daily visits to a steam sauna. To support the financial burden of his chosen treatment path, Hatrix and his family launched a GoFundMe campaign, as his alternative medicine approach made it difficult for him to continue working.

The positive results Hatrix is now reporting align with earlier progress reports. Chaoszine noted that as of March and November 2025, Hatrix has been nearing the completion of his alternative treatment with consistently positive results. His announcement of remission represents a significant milestone in his health journey and serves as a powerful testament to his chosen treatment approach.
