Evanescence has announced their return with a new song titled ‘Afterlife’ through their official Instagram account.
“We are so thrilled to be a part of the brand new Netflix animated series ‘Devil May Cry,'” the band stated. “It was an honor to be tapped to create an original song for the show with the incredibly talented Mako.”
“Hope you love it as much as we do,” they continued. “Listen for ‘Afterlife’ in episodes 6 & 7 in season one of ‘Devil May Cry.'”
The song marks Evanescence’s first new release in four years. It is featured in Netflix’s adaptation of the popular video game franchise.
The collaboration unites multiple creative forces in the music industry. Reports from AXS revealed that renowned producer Nick Raskulinecz co-produced the track with Mako. Their work created a unique blend of gothic grandeur and raw vulnerability that enhances the series’ aesthetic.
Lead singer Amy Lee drew inspiration from the series’ visual elements. She was particularly moved by what she describes as the ‘horrific and beautiful’ aspects of the show. The themes of pain, resolve, and redemption in the series aligned perfectly with the band’s artistic vision.
The song’s placement in episodes 6 and 7 of ‘Devil May Cry’s first season creates a powerful connection. It brings together passionate fans from both the gaming and music communities.
This release opens a potential new chapter for Evanescence. It signals their return to active music creation following their extended break from releasing new material.
