Evan Rachel Wood Confirms Her New Documentary Will Shed Light On Her Abuser, Marilyn Manson

A synopsis about ‘Phoenix Rising,’ which is a documentary about the life and career of Evan Rachel Wood, was recently released on the Sundance Film Festival website. Evan Rachel Wood revealed that the documentary will explore the abuse allegations she made against Marilyn Manson.

As you may recall, the rumors that Manson was abusing women were circulating over the years, but he had never faced serious allegations until last year. On February 1, 2021, Manson’s former girlfriend, Evan Rachel Wood, shared a post on her official Instagram account and publicly announced that Marilyn Manson abused her for years.

Wood’s statement encouraged the other victims of abuse, and four more women charged Manson with sexual assault. As of January, there are at least 16 women who made abuse allegations against Manson. The musician denied all the claims, but he has been dropped by his label, manager, and agent.

The two-part documentary, ‘Phoenix Rising,’ will air on HBO later this year, and it will also include Wood’s accusations against Manson. The documentary will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, but its release date on HBO was not revealed yet. Evan Rachel Wood confirmed with a post on her official Instagram account that the documentary will involve her decision to publicly name her abuser.

Here is how Wood announced it:

“I can finally share with the world. I have teamed up with Amy Berg on a project called ‘Phoenix Rising.’ A documentary exploring aspects of my life, career, family, the passage of The Phoenix Act, and ultimately the decision to name my abuser publicly. Premiering at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. The two-part documentary will air sometime this spring on HBO.”
