Testament guitarist Eric Peterson has confirmed that the band’s upcoming album is nearing completion and will be released in fall 2025. He shared these details on The Mixtape Podcast.
Peterson provided an update on the album’s current production status and timeline during the interview.
“We just finished mixing last Friday, and we’re gonna be mastering it this week,” Peterson said. “[We’re] in the middle of okaying art for the album.”
The guitarist emphasized the urgency of completing all final preparations before the band’s upcoming tour commitments.
“Everything needs to be turned in before we leave [for our tour of] Australia,” he continued. “A busy week coming up, but I’m excited because it’s all done. We’re just putting it all together, getting ready to send it in to the label, and then, yeah, it’s gonna be coming out in the fall. And it came out really good. Jens Bogren mixed it, and I’m really, really happy with it.”
This upcoming release represents another significant milestone in Testament’s prolific career. It builds on their recent creative momentum.
Blabbermouth reported that this album will serve as the follow-up to their 2020 release “Titans Of Creation.” Juan Urteaga co-produced that previous album. The band has maintained a consistent recording schedule over the past decade, demonstrating their commitment to delivering new material to their fanbase.
The choice of Jens Bogren as mixer adds considerable weight to the project. Blabbermouth noted that Bogren is renowned for his work with prominent metal acts including Opeth, Kreator, and Amon Amarth. He brings his expertise in crafting powerful metal productions to Testament’s latest effort.
Testament’s current live performances may offer hints about their musical direction for the new album. Setlist.fm documented that their recent setlists have featured songs like “Practice What You Preach,” “Sins of Omission,” and “The Pale King.” These selections could indicate the band’s current creative focus and energy that may translate into the studio recordings.
The official tracklist remains unconfirmed, but early speculation suggests the album may include tracks such as “The Pale King,” “Stronghold,” and “Seven Seals.” The band’s history of producing thematically rich albums includes “Brotherhood Of The Snake” which explored themes of ancient societies. This suggests fans can expect another conceptually engaging release when the album arrives this fall.
