Eddie Van Halen’s Heartbreaking Last Words About Brother Alex

Also known as ‘The Guitar God,’ Eddie Van Halen was a talented musician, songwriter, and successful guitarist. He co-founded the iconic rock band Van Halen in 1972 alongside his brother Alex Van Halen, Mark Stone, and David Lee Roth. With his talented guitar playing in the band, Eddie became widely known as one of the greatest guitar players in rock history.

Throughout his career in Van Halen, Eddie contributed significantly to the band’s success. However, he was diagnosed with cancer and started to receive treatment in 2000. Although Eddie was declared cancer-free in 2002, he was later hospitalized in 2019. The iconic guitarist then died of a stroke on October 6, 2020, at 65.

At the time of Eddie’s passing, he was surrounded by his wife Janie, his son Wolfgang, and his brother Alex. Following his devastating death, Wolfgang announced that Van Halen had disbanded. From then on, Alex lost his interest in making music and started living as a recluse. Although Eddie’s last words were unknown, his final social media post was about his brother, Alex Van Halen.

Eddie Van Halen’s Last Social Media Post Was A Birthday Celebration For Alex Van Halen

Six months before his tragic death, Eddie Van Halen used Instagram to celebrate his brother Alex’s birthday. In his post, the late guitarist included an old photo of him and Alex and stated that he loves him. The post was shared on May 9, 2020, a day before Alex Van Halen’s birthday. Later on, this turned out to be the iconic guitarist’s last social media post.

Although it later became a touching memory, Eddie Van Halen’s Instagram post was as follows:

“Happy Birthday Al! Love ya!”

Even today, Eddie’s fans stop by on his Instagram page and comment below this birthday celebration, saying that they miss the rock icon. Moreover, it might also be heartbreaking for Alex to see that his brother’s last words on the internet are about him.
