Ed Sheeran Says He Is Very Nervous For Fans To Hear His New Album With An Unusual Name

Ed Sheeran revealed some new details about his upcoming album and announced the release of his brand new song by sharing a recent post on his official Twitter account.

About a month ago, Ed Sheeran dropped a new single from his fourth studio album named ‘Bad Habits,’ and his fans have been waiting to hear about his upcoming record ever since. Yesterday, the singer revealed that the album is named ‘=,’ pronounced as equals, will be a follow-up album to his ‘+,’ ‘x,’ and ‘÷’ albums. Also, the album is going to drop on October 29.

In his tweet, the musician also mentioned he started writing and recording this album back in 2017, the year he released ‘÷.’ Sheeran admitted that making this record has been a long process during which he explored lots of emotions such as love, loss, and grief. Because of that, Ed thinks this will be a ‘coming of age record.’

Moreover, Ed also revealed the story behind his brand new single, ‘Visiting Hours.’ Sheeran unveiled that with this song, he paid tribute to his friend named Michael who passed away this year.

Ed Sheeran said after announcing the new album and the new single:

My 4th studio album ‘=’ comes out October 29th, and is available to preorder today on all platforms, cd, vinyl, and cassette. I started writing and recording this album June 2017. It’s been a long, long process.

I’ve been through love, loss, new life, grief, and everything in between during the whole period of writing it, and I feel like it’s really a coming of age record. I’ve never been more proud of a body of work, or more excited/nervous for you all to hear it.

The next song off of it is called ‘Visiting Hours,’ which I finished for my friend Michael who sadly passed away this year. If you preorder the album you get this song with it, but it’s also on all platforms from now too.”
