DragonForce has confirmed that longtime frontman Marc Hudson is stepping back from his vocal duties with the band due to health concerns. Alessio Garavello, Marc’s former vocal coach, has been named as his temporary replacement. He will join frontwoman Alissa White-Gluz on male vocals for the band’s upcoming material.
“Due to an ongoing issue with tinnitus, Marc Hudson is stepping back from DragonForce music duties for now including the forthcoming album and touring plans in 2026/2027,” the band said. “In the meantime, he’ll still very much be involved with DragonForce behind the scenes, working with the band’s management on some exciting stuff you’ll start seeing later this year!”
“Joining us for the next chapter is our longtime friend and Marc’s former vocal coach, Alessio Garavello,” the band continued. “He will be handing the male vocals supporting frontwoman Alissa White-Gluz. DragonForce’s forthcoming album will feature a dual-vocals format, with new songs dropping starting next week.”
Guitarist Herman Li said the band would not ask Hudson to compromise his hearing, adding that they would rather have him healthy for the long haul. Sam Totman said Garavello was the clear choice to step in, noting his history with Hudson and the band.
Hudson joined DragonForce in 2011 after founding singer ZP Theart departed. Garavello, known for Power Quest, has previously performed DragonForce material and will take the male vocal role alongside White-Gluz as the band prepares its new music and touring plans.
Fans can expect new songs featuring the dual-vocal format to begin arriving next week, while Hudson remains involved with the band behind the scenes.
