Disturbed guitarist Dan Donegan recently addressed the band’s future plans in a statement shared on Instagram Live. He confirmed that the band will be stepping back from touring for an extended period.

During the livestream, Donegan explained the reasons behind the decision. He cited both the demanding nature of their recent tour schedule and personal circumstances affecting band members.

“We are done [playing shows for now]. We are done with ‘The Sickness’, done with the anniversary tour,” Donegan said. “[We’ll be] home for the rest of the year, and probably gonna take quite a bit of time off next year. So no discussions of doing anything else.”

The guitarist emphasized that the band felt they needed time to rest. They also wanted to reconnect with their families. “We just feel like we could use a break. It’s been a pretty strong run earlier this year. We started in the U.S. and a little bit into Canada and finishing this European run, we just feel we could enjoy some time home. And [we’ve] got a lot of stuff going on in our personal lives. [We’ve] got holidays coming up.”

Donegan also referenced personal losses during their European tour. Several band members and crew experienced significant family tragedies while on the road.

The band’s decision to take a break comes after a turbulent 2025 marked by significant challenges. These challenges extended beyond typical tour fatigue. Noise11 reported that Disturbed announced an indefinite hiatus following a controversial year that tested the band’s resilience and public standing. The hiatus represents a significant pause for a band that has been active for 25 years, signaling the gravity of the circumstances surrounding their decision.

The European leg of their tour faced particular difficulties. Major concert cancellations disrupted their schedule. The Mosh documented that Disturbed’s Brussels concert was canceled by local authorities due to safety concerns. This cancellation was linked to frontman David Draiman’s public statements and actions that sparked considerable backlash and protests. The cancellation highlighted the complex challenges the band faced during their European run, extending beyond typical performance logistics.

The broader context of their break reflects a need for the band to regroup and reassess. Metal Injection noted that the band confirmed they are taking time to “breathe for a bit” after the intensity of their touring schedule and the controversies that surrounded it. This characterization suggests the hiatus is as much about emotional and mental recovery as it is about physical rest.

The band plans to remain home for the remainder of 2025. They will take significant time off in 2026, giving themselves the space needed to move forward from a challenging period.
