Dire Straits’ Mark Knopfler Shares How Ageing Affected His Music

Dire Straits guitarist Mark Knopfler explained how his age affected his music during a recent interview with Udiscovermusic.

Mark is a 46-year-old musician who has contributed to the creation of over fifteen studio albums throughout his career. For the last twenty years, he has been focusing on a solo career, and his most recent release was ‘Down The Road Wherever’ in 2018.

Even though some people might think that age could negatively affect a musician’s performance, some professionals have proved otherwise. Mark Knopfler is one of the examples of these musicians, and he recently explained the reason.

In the conversation, Mark revealed that getting older increased the enjoyment he gets from making new records and showed that he hasn’t lost his passion for music yet. Furthermore, the veteran guitarist said that being inspired and wishing to create a better world is one of the best feelings that a person can get.

My enjoyment of making records has increased with age. I love to write. The feeling of being inspired, for want of a better world, is one of the best feelings you can have.”
