Fear Factory guitarist Dino Cazares shared his stance on fan autographs through X (formerly Twitter).

“Generally, I’m more than happy to give autographs,” Cazares stated. “The only times I wouldn’t are when time is short or something unexpected comes up.”

“But if someone’s supporting me by buying official merchandise, I’m glad to return the favor,” he added.

The statement emerged after Deftones frontman Chino Moreno expressed frustration about fans pressuring him to sign multiple albums simultaneously.

The music industry now faces an ongoing debate about artist accessibility and autograph culture. These contrasting approaches highlight the complexity of fan interactions.

A report from VICE revealed that Moreno’s decision stemmed from a Dallas incident. Fans had mobbed him with stacks of vinyl records, prompting him to cease signing autographs entirely.

Consequence documented growing concerns about authenticity in fan interactions. Moreno specifically pointed to autograph seekers who resell signed items on eBay.

The issue extends beyond Moreno and Cazares. Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has taken a different approach. He now signs items exclusively for charitable purposes, showcasing one way artists maintain boundaries with fans.

Cazares’ balanced response presents a practical solution. He emphasizes genuine fan support through merchandise purchases while acknowledging realistic limitations on artist availability.
