Fear Factory’s Dino Cazares recently addressed fan concerns about bassist Tony Campos following Static-X’s announcement of tour cancellations due to medical issues. He responded to worried fans on X (formerly Twitter).
The response came after Static-X announced they would be canceling their remaining 2026 tour dates due to serious medical issues within the band. When a concerned Fear Factory fan directly asked Cazares about Campos’ wellbeing, the guitarist provided a brief but reassuring update.
“Due to serious medical issues, Static-X will be forced to cancel our remaining tour dates in 2026,” the band stated. “The situation is unavoidable and requires immediate attention. We are very sorry for the inconvenience, and we promise to return to the stage, bigger, stronger and faster in 2027.”
“We appreciate your continued love and support and look forward to seeing you all again very soon! Sincerely, Static-X,” the statement continued.
When asked directly “Just heard about Static-X’s tour canceling due to medical conditions. Is Tony Campos okay?!!” by a fan, Cazares responded simply.
“Tony is great,” Cazares said.
The brief exchange provided relief to fans concerned about the bassist’s health following the tour cancellation announcement.
The cancellation affects a significant portion of Static-X’s touring schedule for the year. Parade reported that the band canceled all remaining 2026 tour dates, including a summer run with Dope and several festival appearances. The industrial metal band had been actively touring to support their recent material and maintain their connection with longtime fans.
The band’s official statement notably did not specify which member was experiencing the medical issues. 98 Rock noted that the band said the medical issue was serious but did not identify which member was affected. This lack of specificity initially led to fan speculation and concern about various band members’ wellbeing.
Despite the setback, Static-X remains committed to returning to live performances. 98 Rock confirmed that the band plans to return to the stage in 2027. The promise to come back “bigger, stronger and faster” suggests the band views this as a temporary hiatus rather than a permanent step back from touring.
The situation highlights the ongoing challenges faced by veteran metal bands as they continue touring decades into their careers. Cazares’ quick response to fan concerns about Campos demonstrates the close-knit nature of the metal community. Musicians from different bands often support each other during difficult times.
