Dee Snider recently provided a positive health update to his fans after stepping down from Twisted Sister’s reunion tour. He shared his current condition in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter).
The update came after Snider was replaced by Sebastian Bach on the tour due to health concerns. The frontman explained how his recovery has progressed since reducing his physical stage performances.
“I’m actually doing great,” Snider said. “Doctors are amazed at the improvements I’ve made with my heart and as long as I’m not beating myself up (jumping around on stage) my aches and pains are manageable.”
The Twisted Sister vocalist expressed optimism about his current situation and lifestyle changes.
“I’m living my dreams and loving life!” he continued.
Snider’s decision to step back from the physically demanding aspects of touring appears to have contributed significantly to his improved health condition.
The health challenges that led to Snider’s departure from the band’s 50th-anniversary reunion tour were more extensive than initially revealed. Louder Sound reported that Snider suffers from degenerative arthritis throughout his body, affecting his shoulders, neck, arms, and legs. This causes constant pain that limited him to performing only a few songs at a time.
The vocalist’s health issues extended beyond arthritis to include hypertension and heart problems. Blabbermouth noted that Snider also experienced organ strain affecting his liver and kidneys from heavy painkiller use. He sought relief from chronic pain despite historically avoiding drugs.
The decision to step away from touring was ultimately influenced by his family’s intervention. Parade revealed that Snider’s children sat him down and urged him to stop risking his health. His manager Phil Carson also halted tour offers due to concerns about Snider’s performance intensity.
Following Snider’s February 2026 withdrawal, which scrapped the original plans announced in September 2025, Sebastian Bach stepped in to front the reformed Twisted Sister for their rescheduled world tour in autumn 2026. Louder Sound indicated that the band had initially offered accommodations such as wheeling Snider onstage. However, they ultimately proceeded with Bach as the new frontman for the milestone anniversary tour.
