Dee Snider Recalls Refusing To Join RuPaul’s Celebrity Drag Race

Dee Snider has been rocking the heavy metal drag look with his long blonde hair, heavy eyeshadow, and pinkest-pink blush. He is also a supporter of LGBTQIA+ rights as a queer icon. Although this was the case, it turns out that the Twisted Sister singer refused to participate in RuPaul’s Celebrity Drag Race, as he revealed in his recent tweet.

Snider’s stage look was revolutionary as he emerged as a man in drag in heavy metal, a genre considered masculine and male-dominated. After Twisted Sister’s disbandment, he continued making music as a solo artist. Although we don’t often see Snider in his iconic look, he’s still perceived as a queer icon by the LGBTQIA+ community.

Recently, one of his fans described Dee as an official queer icon in a tweet. Another Twitter user saw this tweet and said it’s great that Dee appreciates being labeled as an icon. “How can I not be?” responded Snider. “Have you watched RuPaul’s Drag Race? Those people are all lucky I don’t sue the sh*t out of them for stealing my look! Them, Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera, and…”

Another follower then pointed out this was a compliment. Snider then tweeted, “It wasn’t? I took it as one! I get a lot of respect and appreciation from the LGBTQ+ community for my fearlessness, acting, dressing, and looking the way I wanted to. And trust me, it wasn’t easy (hence me inventing stage diving).”

When one of his followers complimented his stage look, Snider revealed he was invited to be on RuPaul’s Celebrity Drag Race. The rocker said, “They asked me to be on RuPaul’s Celebrity Drag Race, but I passed. I feel I’ve done my time dolled up. I should be a damn judge!”

Apparently, Dee Snider believes his iconic stage personality’s time is up. So, we may not see him rocking his ‘Twisted Sister’ look in the near future. Despite that, Snider leaves the door open to be a judge on RuPaul’s Celebrity Drag Race. For now, it remains unknown what RuPaul would say about this offer.
