Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider recently clashed with a fan on X over the band’s live reputation, defending his group’s legacy in a heated exchange shared on X.
The exchange began when a fan argued that Twisted Sister was a solid live act. However, the fan claimed the band was never a genuine threat to the headlining acts they supported.
“Dee thinks he’s smarter than he is and that Twisted Sister was bigger than they were,” the fan wrote. “They were huge… But they were openers. I lived through it as well, and they were a solid live act, but they weren’t blowing anyone off the stage that was headlining.”
Snider quickly responded to the claim, questioning the fan’s understanding of the band’s touring history.
“WTF are you talking about, Willis?” Snider wrote. “So Twisted Sister never headlined the hundreds of shows we headlined?”
The fan clarified their point with the distinction between the size of venues Twisted Sister headlined.
“I was pointing out what the other person said,” the fan replied. “You headlined clubs, but not arenas. Once again, TS was a solid live act, but I don’t think any band was concerned about being blown away by you.”
Snider then gave a final response, saying that his performances were designed to overshadow the acts that followed them.
“What do you make your conclusions on?” Snider said. “Every band was concerned because my only mission was to make life difficult for the headliner by lighting up the crowd. If you don’t think I did, YOU should try getting on stage after me.”
Twisted Sister officially stepped away from the road in 2016, closing out what was billed at the time as the band’s final tour. Their return to the stage came only this year, when the band reunited for a one-off performance at Wacken Open Air in Germany. It marked the first full live set the group had played together since retiring a decade earlier.
That reunion has since grown into something larger. Twisted Sister announced a 50th-anniversary tour set for 2026, and the run has already expanded to nine North American dates. Founding guitarists Jay Jay French and Eddie Ojeda are fronting those shows alongside Sebastian Bach on vocals. Snider is stepping back from live performance duties for this particular leg of dates.
