Michael Monroe recently sat down with Janne Innanfors on Sweden’s Rockklassiker radio, where he offered high praise for Vince Neil’s live performance.

Hanoi Rocks singer recalled his experience watching Mötley Crüe perform live for the first time. Despite having had a previous opportunity to see them when Alice Cooper opened for Mötley Crüe in Finland, Monroe had not stayed for their performance. He stated:

“I watched the show. I never saw them live before. They were opening for — Alice Cooper was actually opening for them once in Finland, but I didn’t stay for their show, but this time I watched the whole show. And I thought it was — you know, it was good.”

The Uniting Power Of Music

Reflecting on Neil’s performance, he went on to say:

“Vince Neil was singing for real, I could tell, and it was really good; it was really sounding great out there. And after the show, they came offstage, and Nikki came to hug me, and then Vince came, and we met, and I just told him that Razzle always wanted us to meet because us singers, we’re alike.”

Fulfilling A Long-Held Wish

The paths of Mötley Crüe members and Monroe crossed backstage at Finland’s Rockfest 2023, marking a significant moment for Monroe and Neil. Monroe shared a photo on Instagram of his first meeting with Neil, a moment he described as one of the most important of his life. Detailing the encounter, Monroe expressed how Razzle, the late Hanoi Rocks drummer, had always hoped for them to meet, given their similar roles as frontmen.

During the interaction, Nikki Sixx also embraced Monroe, indicating no past issues between the two. The bassist wrote the following in his post:

“What a wonderful surprise seeing Michael Monroe at the show tonight. Haven’t seen this fine gentleman for years with everybody’s personal life on top of careers and then living in different parts of the world. You’re a class act, Michael – and please bring your harmonica next time.”

Monroe and Neil had not met in person until June 9, following the devastating car accident that led to the death of Nicholas’ Razzle’ Dingley and the subsequent breakup of the band.
