Hagar Announces ‘The Best of All Worlds’ Tour

Last week, Hagar announced on the Howard Stern show that he’s going on ‘The Best of All Worlds’ tour with Michael Anthony, Jason Bonham, and Joe Satriani. They will play a lot of songs from when Sammy was the lead singer of Van Halen for ten years. The singer talked about why he chose to go on this tour, saying:

“It’s time. Nobody else is gonna do it. If Dave [Lee Roth] goes out, he can’t sing my stuff. [But] we can do a few of the early Van Halen songs. I have no problem with that; I did it when I was in Van Halen. This is really a celebration of all that, and we are the only ones who can do it.”

The Red Rocker’s Vision For The Tour

He continued, detailing his plans for the forthcoming trek:

“We’re gonna invite every musician in every town. First of all, whenever you play, if there’s a guitar player in town, no matter what city it is, they come out to see Joe [Satriani], just like they used to for Eddie [Van Halen]. So if we’ve got other guitar players, we’ll get them involved, other singers, get them involved. If Alex Van Halen wants to jump up, if David Lee Roth wants to come out and join us, come on, motherf*cker. You are welcome. This is about Van Halen.”

Hagar’s Disappointment Over Unfulfilled Van Halen Tribute

Since Eddie passed away in 2020, there’s been a lot of discussion about a tour to celebrate Van Halen’s music. Considering his previous statements on the issue, Hagar was disappointed that plans to include all the main former members of the band hadn’t worked out. He noted during a chat with the Rock of Nations podcast in early November:

“For them not to have done something for Eddie Van Halen, the greatest guitar player in the world, on the planet. Greatest rock musician, I’m telling ya. It’s ugly, but it’s not my job.”

Hagar and Anthony were in Chickenfoot with Satriani, making two albums from 2009 to 2011 and touring America without playing any Van Halen songs. After Chickenfoot, they played Van Halen songs with Vic Johnson and Jason Bonham in Sammy Hagar and the Circle. This new tour combines members from both Chickenfoot and the Circle, making it the closest to a Van Halen tour now.

Organized by Live Nation, the ‘The Best of All Worlds’ tour, spanning 28 shows, will start on July 13 in West Palm Beach, Florida, and end on August 31 in St. Louis, Missouri.
