David Crosby Exclaims ‘Please Neil Young If You Read This Forgive Me’ And Invites Him On Stage

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and The Byrds co-founding member, and co-lead vocalist David Crosby, recently posted a couple of tweets on his Twitter account and called out to his former bandmate Neil Young and said that he’s sorry and that he really wants to reunite with CSNY.

As you know, Crosby started climbing the ladder of fame as the co-founder, rhythm guitarist, and vocalist of The Byrds in the mid-’60s. His fame increased, even more, when he formed Crosby, Stills & Nash in 1969 with the addition of Neil Young later on. CSNY had a successful career but they disbanded and then reunited three times due to the tensions between band members.

What Happened Between Neil Young And David Crosby?

It is widely known that Crosby is not one of the easiest people to work with and his attitude, alcohol and drug abuse were the reasons why he was fired from both bands. However, the reason why his relationship with Neil Young worsened significantly was the statement he made during an interview.

While speaking to the Idaho Statesman in 2014, David Crosby called Daryl Hannah, Neil Young’s wife, a ‘purely poisonous predator.’ Unsurprisingly, this pissed off Neil Young a lot. Crosby apologized to Neil Young and Daryl Hannah both privately and publically but no one responded. In 2017, it seemed like Young and Crosby were on better terms as there were reunion rumors going around.

Will Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (CSNY) Reunite?

However, in 2020 Young firmly stated that he won’t be getting back with Crosby as he never seizes to do things that annoy or offend other people. He’d said that he’s done with David Crosby’s drama and that the reason why he holds a grudge against him, is because Crosby really deserves it.

Here’s what Neil Young said to AARP Magazine in 2020:

Crosby should write an introspective book: ‘Why People Won’t Talk to Me Anymore.’ He made a lot of great music for a long time. I don’t know what happened with David. I got nothing to say. I love Stephen. I love Graham. If a reunion happens, it would be a surprise. I won’t close the door on anything. I can hold a grudge with the best of them, but only if there’s a reason for it.”

Just some hours ago, David Crosby started responding to some of his fans’ questions, one of which was about Neil Young’s iconic track ‘Let’s Impeach the President.’ One of the questions that Crosby received was about the rights that musicians have over the use of their tracks during political rallies.

Crosby said that although numerous artists have ordered cease and desist, politicians usually ignore them. However, he added that there are some ‘very bright young folks’ trying to figure out a solution. After this, a fan jokingly said that it could be a good shout to pay the sound man to play ‘Let’s Impeach the President’ “by accident.”

Crosby responded to his fan’s joke by expressing his love for that song. He said ‘that song is what Neil and Stephen and Graham and I should be singing right now every effing night’ as it is exactly what the country and its citizens need right now. Following that, he called out to his former bandmate Neil Young and asked him to forgive him for his mistakes and get back on stage with him.

Here’s what a fan asked:

“How much does the artist estate have control of this, vs BMI/ASCAP allowing usage rights? Haven’t many artists ordered cease and desist over the years to Trump and he still plays Elton, Neil Young, Rolling Stones at every event. Thanks.”

To which Crosby responded:

Hard to stop them using your songs legally… they ignore the stop and desist letters but there are many very bright young folks out there thinking up new ways to screw up his rallies.”

Another fan chimed in and said:

“What about that ‘Let’s Impeach the President‘ song – it surely would be worth it to pay the sound man to ‘play it by accident.'”

David Crosby replied:

“That song is what Neil and Stephen and Graham and I should be singing right now every effing night. Please Neil, if you read this, forgive me, and let’s do the right thing and help right now. The country and the people need the help we can give.”
