Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine has entered the studio to start writing and recording the band’s next album. A fan shared the news on Reddit, saying Mustaine revealed his plans to Cyber Army fan club members.

In the reported message, the vocalist said he was “moving to the studio alongside producer Chris Rakestraw for the next six months to write and record the new album.” The post also said other members were “sending song ideas from home” before they “all reunite in the studio later on.”

Megadeth started working on their new album several months ago. New guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari confirmed its possible release in 2025 during an August chat as follows: “Yeah, that’s actually the plan. Right now everybody’s gathering their own riff ideas, and then, at some point, we’re gonna put them together and probably record in Nashville. And the plan is to get the next album done next year.”

Before that, the guitarist also mentioned that the upcoming record might have ‘Rust In Peace’ vibes.

Mäntysaari joined Megadeth during their 2023 ‘Crush The World’ tour, replacing Kiko Loureiro, who took a break to spend more time with his family. Shortly after, Mustaine said the band wanted to work on three more albums, aiming to release each every one to three years.

The group’s latest record, ‘The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!,’ came out in 2022, as a follow-up to 2016’s ‘Dystopia.’ Rakestraw served as producer in both albums.
