Dave Grohl Covers ‘Stay’ By Lisa Loeb For The Hanukkah Sessions

The official Foo Fighters Twitter account recently shared a tweet revealing that frontman Dave Grohl covered a unique version of Lisa Loeb’s hit ‘Stay.’ The rocker is spotted using a slightly high-pitched voice in the music video, which was highly appreciated by his fans in the comments section.

Lisa Loeb released ‘Stay (I Missed You)‘ in May 1994 as the lead single from the original movie soundtrack to ‘Reality Bites.’ The song received positive reviews from most music critics who specifically praised its lyrics and production. In fact, numerous critics had listed the track in some of the best song lists.

The song ultimately became a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, making Loeb the first artist to top the US chart before being signed to any record label. In addition to the United States, the track was commercially successful in several other countries, including Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.

Since Lisa Loeb was born to a Jewish family in Bethesda, Maryland, and was raised in Dallas, Texas, Dave Grohl thought it would be great to start this year’s Hanukkah sessions by covering her hit song. Furthermore, the singer had a surprise for his fans in the music video.

In the three-minute video, Dave Grohl starts singing in a slightly high-pitched voice while wearing a flower dress. The cover has a plot twist as Grohl adopts a classic metal-musician persona, too, given with distorted close-up footage. Countless fans praised his genius approach to covering the song and said they cannot wait to see what comes next for this year’s Hanukkah sessions.

The tweet of Foo Fighters follows:

“Welcome back to the menorah, you all. Let’s kick it this year’s Hanukkah sessions with one of Dallas, Texas’s favorite Jewish daughters. So put on your coffee shop spectacles and your Betsey Johnson dress, and HAVA listen to this… ‘Stay’ by Lisa Loeb.

The most liked fan comment follows:

“We do not deserve Dave but are so grateful for how he feeds his fans. The Nicest Beast in Rock must outlive us all!”
