Daryl Hall received a temporary restraining order against John Oates following the filing of a secretive lawsuit against his Hall & Oates band member.
There’s not much known about the case since the court papers are private, but court records show that Hall filed a secret complaint against Oates on November 16 and asked for a temporary restraining order, according to Philadelphia magazine. The court then issued the restraining order to start on November 30.
Lawsuit Specifics

Hall’s lawsuit is directed at both Oates personally and Oates’s trust. Oates, along with his co-trustees Aimee Oates and Richard Flynn, were served with summons. Then, a motion for pro hac vice was filed, indicating that a party in the case had asked for a lawyer from another state to be involved.
The Changing Dynamics Of Hall & Oates’ Relationship

Despite their success with hit songs and receiving five Grammy nominations, the duo seems to have drifted apart. In an interview last year on Club Random with Bill Maher, Hall mentioned that they have ‘always been very separate,’ saying:
“John and I are brothers, but we are not creative brothers. We are business partners. We made records called Hall & Oates together, but we’ve always been very separate, and that’s a really important thing for me.”
No Plans For New Music

The musicians also aren’t considering releasing a new album. Their last record was 2006’s ‘Home For Christmas.’ Then they also dropped a single in 2018 titled ‘Philly Forget Me Not.’ Oates discussed why in a 2019 interview with Classic Pop:
“I think we’ve said everything we’ve wanted to say. Our passions lie in our individual projects now. We’ve accepted we should go out and represent this great body of work we’ve made already. We’re proud of what we’ve done, and our shows are ongoing. I think that’s OK.”
Hall & Oates, who first met at Temple University in Philadelphia, have recorded 18 albums together. They were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003 and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2014.
