Imagine Dragons’ frontman Dan Reynolds’ recent did an interview with SiriusXM’s ‘The Jess Cagle Show with Julia Cunningham.’ When the singer was asked about the possibility of a Super Bowl halftime show, Dan said:
“We did have talks about Super Bowl stuff with Super Bowl people. Until I know that we can perform in the way that we want and our instruments can be playing live, we’re never going to play the Super Bowl. And that’s my honest answer to you.”
The singer went on to say that there’s no hate towards the Super Bowl but as a band they have a non-negotiable which is playing live instruments. Dan added:
“We have a very specific way that we perform and we’ve been really lucky to stick to our guns for this many years and perform in that way.”
Even though it won’t be Imagine Dragons performing during the Super Bowl halftime show this year, Usher will take the stage as the headline performer. Here’s what Usher had to say about his upcoming performance:
“It’s an honour of a lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list. I can’t wait to bring the world a show unlike anything else they’ve seen from me before.”
Knowing very well how many people will watch him perform, Usher announced that he will release a new album on Super Bowl day. His new album ‘Coming Home’ will be a follow up to ‘Hard II Love,’ which he released in 2016. Regarding his performance, Usher did hint during his interview with Zane Lowe that he may bring special guests. He said:
“Well, one thing I can say is I’ve collaborated with a lot of incredible artists throughout the years.”
