Cradle of Filth frontman Dani Filth has responded to recent accusations from former band members with a detailed statement. The statement reveals threatening messages that also involve Sharon Osbourne, as reported on Cradle of Filth’s Instagram.

The statement addresses allegations made by former keyboardist Zoë M. Federoff and her husband Marek “Ashok” Šmerda, who was dismissed from the band. Filth shared screenshots of threatening messages sent by Ashok to the band’s management.

The text message Ashok sent to Dez Fafara, who owns the company that manages Cradle of Filth, read, “Dez Fafara- you are sick evil person trained by the sickest person in the music industry – Sharon Osbourne – the criminal who should be whipped to death. Your karma will catch you.”

Filth addressed multiple aspects of the controversy surrounding the band’s recent lineup changes in his comprehensive response.

“I think it’s time to reveal my side of the story, now that so many accusations have been levelled at the band, our management, and me personally,” he said. “I apologise for the slight tardiness of this statement; it was important to approach this in a level-headed manner after reflection.”

Filth clarified misconceptions about the band’s contracts and working arrangements.

“Firstly, the contract in question. This is not a contract that was ever expected to be signed as is, but was the initial framework to build from,” he explained. “No one in the band is prohibited from working with other groups and substituting their income. We currently schedule tours for about 40% of the year, with the rest of the year being available for other commitments.”

The frontman also detailed incidents that occurred during the band’s South American tour. He described disruptive behavior from the former members.

“I personally witnessed heated exchanges between Zoe and Ashok that included both verbal and physical abuse, culminating in a public display in front of the hotel and fans who had gathered for last-minute autographs in Sao Paolo,” he stated. “This was not an isolated incident but part of a pattern of abusive behavior that strained the entire team.”

Filth concluded by defending the band’s management. He expressed frustration with what he characterized as false accusations.

“Addressing the management: Dez and Anahstasia of The Oracle Management have been nothing short of wonderful. Caring and understanding, relinquishing commissions to make tours work and working closely with the band to deliver us some amazing opportunities, thinking above and outside the proverbial box. Having failed to fit in the band, Zoe is now attempting to slander and lie about as much as possible to garner dislike for me and our management. Isn’t it easy to accuse without proof in this day and age when everybody is a such a well-versed online critic? I can only begin to imagine what else I will be accused of as she seeks to destroy this band and business.”

The reference to Sharon Osbourne in Ashok’s threatening message highlights the complex web of relationships and conflicts within the metal music industry. Osbourne has long been a controversial figure in this space.

Sharon Osbourne’s history of industry disputes provides context for why she was mentioned in the threatening message. Metal Injection reported that Osbourne recently revealed she had removed a band from Black Sabbath’s farewell concert lineup after a payment dispute. She described the incident as “probably the worst way I’ve felt in years” due to conflicts with the band’s management.

These past controversies demonstrate why Sharon Osbourne remains a polarizing figure in the metal community. Some view her as a powerful industry advocate while others see her as manipulative and vindictive. Consequence of Sound noted that the current Cradle of Filth drama represents another chapter in the ongoing tensions between artists and industry power brokers. Ashok’s message reflects the frustration many musicians feel toward what they perceive as exploitative management practices.

The involvement of Sharon Osbourne’s name in this dispute, even tangentially, underscores how her reputation continues to influence perceptions of industry conflicts decades after her most controversial actions. Her history of public feuds and business disputes has created a legacy that extends far beyond her direct involvement in any particular situation.
