In a recent interview with The Standard, Courtney Love explained why she prefers Will Sergeant over Jimmy Page.

“Will Sergeant, my favorite guitarist on earth, from my favorite band agreed to work with me!” the Hole singer said of the Echo & the Bunnymen guitarist.

She added, “My goodness, when he returned from LA for our first song together, I nearly fainted – he’s such an icon! If you lined up Jimmy Page, Jonny Greenwood, and Will Sergeant, I’d pick Sergeant every time; it’s insane! He’s on this album and elevating songs beyond description.”

Love also revealed that R.E.M. singer Michael Stipe will be on the record. The rocker shared, “Stipe mentioned our collaboration to The New York Times, so I can say it’s gorgeous. I fell down weeping hearing his voice – it’s better than ever!”

PJ Harvey will not be featured on Love’s album as she said, “I did ask PJ Harvey to come back. I’ve endorsed her over the decades, but she chose not to respond to me. So I wrote her about how f*cking rude that was. Her manager tried to smooth things over, but it’s not okay.”

Love has been busy nowadays as she is working on a solo album, her first since 2004’s ‘America’s Sweetheart,’ with Sergeant. She also released a version of Tim Buckley’s ‘Song to the Siren’ with 070 Shake, worked with Hole’s Melissa Auf der Maur, and auctioned the lyrics to the 1994 song ‘Violet.’

Billy Corgan wants to own the lyrics to Love’s ‘Violet.’ The Smashing Pumpkins singer posted a video on Instagram saying he bought three tickets for the auction of Love’s handwritten lyrics to Hole’s 1994 song.

The frontman said, “Hello friends, I have a very special announcement. Check this out. I just bought my ticket for the Ellis Park Wildlife Sanctuary auction for the lyrics for ‘Violet’ written by Courtney Love. Now, it’s made a lot of press this week that this auction’s going off.”

“So, I’ve actually bought my ticket because I’d like to win these lyrics because I think it’s about a guy I know a little bit about and I’d love to put that on my wall. Anyway, support this if you want to, EllisPark.org. Ellis Park. org. You can enter the auction as well but you gotta buy a ticket. I got three tickets for 20 bucks. So, I’m in it to win it,” he continued.

The auction is part of a fundraiser for Ellis Park, a wildlife sanctuary. It runs until December 15, and all the money raised will go to the charity. Ellis Park helps rescue animals in Sumatra and was started by Warren Ellis from Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds.
