Courtney Love Changes Her Controversial Post About Mark Lanegan To A Simple Farewell
Hole lead vocalist Courtney Love posted her photo with Screaming Trees frontman Mark Lanegan to bid farewell to him after he had passed away a short time ago. The followers noticed that she changed her previous post, which was filled with anger, pain, and reproach, and approved her decision.
Mark Lanegan was an accomplished author of five books, ‘I Am the Wolf: Lyrics & Writings,’ ‘Sing Backwards and Weep: A Memoir,’ ‘Plague Poems with Wesley Eisold,’ ‘Leaving California,’ and ‘Devil in a Coma.’ In ‘Sing Backwards and Weep: A Memoir,’ which was released on April 28, 2020, Lanegan bravely shared not only the exclusive details about his personal life but also striking truths about his close friends.
Lanegan’s words about Love in his book read:
“Whenever I was with Kurt and his wife Courtney Love, she’d have me find her vein and hit her, a task made more difficult by her nonstop talking, storytelling, or complaining.”
In a part of his autobiographical book, Lanegan, a friend of the late Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain and his wife Courtney Love, revealed that he helped the frontwoman use drugs and noted it was too hard as she was talking nonstop. Therefore, it can be assumed that Love didn’t feel happy about Lanegan exposing these very personal things about her life. Courtney Love reflected her feelings about that with her message to the Screaming Trees frontman after he died on February 22, 2022.
Love stated that she did everything to help Mark, such as paying his mortgage, keeping him sober by paying for his rehabilitation and always supporting his musical projects. It seems like her harsh farewell to the singer received some criticism from Lanegan’s friends and fans, and Love probably regretted saying goodbye like that. So, she later shared their picture and only wrote ‘Safe Travels,’ which her fans found the right thing to do.
Here’s what Love wrote on her deleted post:
“RIP Mark. You were a good friend to Kurt and me; even if in your book you wrote our close friendship out, I’m still baffled and so sad about that but sigh… ‘Market forces of sexism…’ It is what it is.
In Anthony Kiedis’ book ‘Scar Tissue’ despite us being roommates and hanging out a lot and also in bed for years previous to me begging Kurt not to kick Red Hot Chili Peppers off the Cow Palace New York ’92 show due to Flea– whose never sold me out – generosity being the reason hole could even rehearse – in ‘Scar Tissue’ I first appear on Kurt’s arm? ‘whining?’ Ok! Go sexist market forces!
You f*cking dudes and your stupid books. I’m finishing mine now, so it’ll be riddled with lightning flashes of brutal truths and remembrances of all your little weiners. So put your panties on because you’ll need them. I’m over talking about your books where I’m a ‘whiny’ adjacent of Mr. Cobain period, personally. In any event, ‘The Winding Sheet’ and the stunning ‘Whiskey for the Holy Ghost’ were my brilliant soundtracks for all of awful 1994.
I always thought you were a man of great honor and underrated. I’d have done anything for you, and I did. I co-signed your mortgage. I put you in sober living for a year. I paid for three rehabs. Of course, I never wanted or needed any public acknowledgment or thanks for it. I didn’t get it either! I heard you had a long COVID bad death, and I’m so sorry. Rest in power. I’d like to think you’d have come around and made up for your appalling rendition of me in your tome mark, wherever you are. Dropping the rocks.”
Love’s recent IG post read as follows:
“Safe travels, Lanegan.“
A fan responded:
“Much better response.“
Another one added:
“Glad you rethought that post. Admitting when you are wrong is an act of strength.”
